So after her 4-month well baby visit (where she weighed in at 15lbs, 9.6oz), Aubrey started eating a little bit of rice cereal before bed. Dr. Hollis wants her to eat it from a spoon so that she "can learn that skill." I believe the following:
1. Aubrey knew this skill before she came out of the womb, as her size alone indicated that she was helping me eat all that ice cream;
2. If by some chance she couldn't eat off of a spoon in the womb, it is only because she didn't have one; and
3. Based on her size and her mother's ability to speed eat, Aubrey would pick up this skill in no time.
So we fed her rice cereal from the spoon. It turns out, this baby did not have a spoon in the womb (I checked with my OB-GYN and there was no such appartus to be found in the delivery room); however, she was very interested the first night and did a pretty good job of eating. The second night, she tried to suck the spoon like it was a bottle. But on the third night (don't they say third time is a charm), she ate that cereal like a pro. No mess, no fuss, no nothing. Just an empty bowl and a baby wanting more. She even wanted to eat my cereal out of my bowl (Cinnamon Toast Crunch for those of you keeping tabs). And she is like her moma...she's a speed eater, and if you don't get the cereal in there fast enough, she lets you know it.
Yep...there is going to be a whole lot of attitude in this house in about 12 years :)
